Energy Point
Environmental Design Thesis 2016-2017

Thesis Statement:
The design of this thesis is conceived as a revitalization of existing school building that are in extreme low usage to become a Energy Point. The project is directed as a seed for the city to reconnect local resident with the fundamental roots of the growing proses using Aquaponics urban farming.
This will be a combination of indoor, outdoor, advance and basic methods for food production. The vision is to create an anchor for the community using education and agriculture, and by creating locally with local effort, the fundamental of our survival consisted of Fruit, Vegetable, Water, Electricity and Air.
The ambition to re-connect the urban population with the proses of food will transform the city with a model of sustainability, education, community and health. The energy point will become a strong anchor within the urban center.

Our primary and secondary school in Toronto are greatly affected by change of demographic that our city always undertakes. Unfortunate many school are not able to modify their curriculum to meet the change. This event had lead to a chain of event leading to a list of school that are facing permanent closure. Those school currently occupy very important land value for very community, and their closure will mean a grate loss. In most case city of Toronto can not maintain their closure and are forced to sale them for development. For that it is important that those land be redeveloped in a different public land type that at the same time will maintained it education value.
Research Diagrams:

With the increases of food demand and city’s grow, food production gradually becomes alienated from urban setting. Countryside in the other hand overtook the whole process and destroyed miles of natural habitat to fulfill city’s needs. This procedure had lead general Urban population to become disconnected and alienated from the procedure and it turn lost connection with the fundamental routs of the growing proses.

A city like Toronto have been long relying on the ease of transportation. It had created a system where abundant food is always available even in the hardest of its climate. For long we did not have the technology to do other than consuming masses of petroleum with our food. A system of that kind where the city is dependent on outsourcing the food will become more environmentally destructive as the population continues to rise alongside climate changes. This system in it turn will lead to the increases of quality loss, food insecurity and its affordances.

The most resent official statement from the TDSB schools had stated that there is at less 22 school across Toronto that are running between 13% - 40%. Scarlett Heights Entrepreneurial Academy located in Etobicoke is currently ~30% of it maximum capacity having around 230 students currently attending. The school is also located adjacent to a primary school witch make it perfect to have a strong engagement with student.
The Vision is that eventually those school will be embraced with the energy point building. This will grate a strong connection and distribution of the food production to be accessible locally by most of Toronto

Scarlett Heights Entrepreneurial Academy current floor plant. The design intent is to keep a large portion of the original skin of the building. And any material removed will be relocated to the interior of the building

Demographic relation with the design programs

The programmatic relationship with the community is set up to have a strong incentive toward it member. In a way it will have positive attractiveness. the system goes as follow the more you spend time in the facility for ether maintaining, teaching, learning, giving back nutrition, piking the vegetable. All will accumulate in a percentage ratio toward product discount.
